In the expansion of new offerings available at Enchanted Spirit, on July 1st I began posting a series of lessons for my Beginning Online Tarot Class. This class is free and available to anyone who wants to study this fascinating discipline. The links to the lessons available at the moment are at the very bottom of this page. I invite you to browse through and judge the quality of the material for yourself.
I am in the process of organizing the class notes and writing the complete set of lessons, but I presently believe there will be 10 of them in this beginning series. I appreciate your patience with this concept of posting a work-in-progress and offering its material, even as it grows and arranges itself in my mind, on my computer screen, and finally on the appropriate website pages. I plan for new lessons to be posted on the 1st and 15th of each succeeding month – as I said, starting in July.
Those wishing to be notified by e-mail when the new postings are ready need to join the Enchanted Spirit Newsletter mailing list -- which can be accessed through any of the numerous little notices now available on the site. Those wishing to simply audit without receiving mailed notices of new information releases should check back as appropriate to see “what’s new.”
Each new lesson will be posted for thirty days before being removed to make way for the newest installment. There will never be more than two lessons available on the site at any one time, therefore, obviously the entire course will never be accessible in one big chunk. This will rotate this entire beginning class through the course twice a year – and students who wish to actively participate in the class will need to stay current on the material.
I will make limited provisions to help late-comers catch up, but beyond the posting of Lesson 5 . . . visitors are requested to wait until the next series begins anew.
Offering the material in stages like this will help keep students from feeling overwhelmed by too much new information to absorb at once. Not that I mean to say things will become horribly complicated and confusing, but anything new, and perhaps anything as unconventional as this subject may seem at first, can feel daunting. Keep in mind that trite old truth, however: You can eat an elephant one bite at a time. There will be plenty of time to digest and chew each of the bites you find here . . . before it’s time to take in more.
If you are interested in studying the Tarot in this structured, organized and somewhat formal fashion, and if you haven’t yet read the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section of the Enchanted Spirit Tarot site, you might take a minute to do so. That might help you understand how I approach this highly engaging subject and also perhaps explain what you can expect from me as a teacher. At least then, you will have an idea whether my approach to this skill and what you hope to accomplish by studying it are somewhat aligned. The FAQ page to which I’m referring you is found here:
If you wish to register as a formal member of this study group, you WILL need to notify me at [email protected] and thus become part of our mailing list – at least for the time being. As a formal member of the study group, you are able to e-mail me with questions about the material, both now and in the future, and expect priority treatment of your mail. Those not a formal member of the study group may still e-mail me with questions of course, but unfortunately, your mail may have to be dealt with “as time allows.” I hope you will understand the practical need to make this qualification and distinction.
Enrollment in the beginning Tarot class here is free, thus registering costs you nothing except a willingness to correspond with and hear from me via e-mail and to stay current on the material as it becomes available. The benefits to you, however, might be worthwhile in that you get my personal teaching attention AND I know that you are meeting the pre-requisite requirements (by taking and participating in this beginning course) for more advanced courses to be offered in the future.
I presently envision two more advanced courses once the first beginning class is completed. These two advanced classes will NOT be offered to the general public and students enrolling in them will need to have a working knowledge of the basic meanings of the cards and the interpretive differences of each in order to participate well. That knowledge is what the beginning course starting here in July will contain.
The beginning Tarot course will be VERY practical and presented in “plain English.” It will NOT contain much theoretical, esoteric or Cabalistic material. (FYI, the Cabala is a doctrine of Jewish mysticism which does very much relate to the Tarot among other teachings, but I don’t find it helpful to introduce that material until a student has reached a much more precocious level of occult study.) As I said, the material in this beginning class will be very much geared toward routine, ordinary matters and applications.
There is, of course, no requirement nor even assumption that you will continue beyond the beginning course of instruction. But if more advanced study in this fascinating art does, in fact, interest you, by all means enroll here in this beginning class for free . . . because otherwise you will need to establish independently your proficiency and understanding to participate in the more advanced classes coming here soon.
