On the 29th of this month, Venus goes Rx . . . and stays that way for the next six weeks - sending all of us into review about the things Venus represents in our lives - and in our natal charts, the things ruled by the house containing Natal Venus, the house containing Rx Venus, and the things ruled by the houses with Taurus and Libra on the cusps.Venus represents above all else important personal relationships, important personal values, and the individual's use of the material resources - like money and possessions - needed for physical survival. Therefore, these things, in their broadest sense, are going to start receiving special attention for everyone for the next month and a half. Rx energy is a symbolic indicator that the time has come for "humankind" to back up and evaluate these important areas of concern.
On an individual level, you may find yourself assessing, either actively, or through dreams or through just idle moments of reflection and musing, what you have accomplished so far, what you have "built" for yourself lately, through your important personal relationships; the application of your important personal values; and your individual dealings with money and possessions - all of which you need for physical survival.
(Rebecca's Note: I wrote this last sentence in this very repetitive way, not only to emphasize (and honor) the work represented by Rx energy, but to show you how the "language" of astrology works, how the "code is broken," how certain key phrases and concepts "plug in" to form complete, coherent and communicable thoughts. As an astrologer, that's what I do: form sentences everyone can read and understand out of the little stray bits of raw data each celestial symbol, position and angle represents.
(Thought I'd give you just a little glimpse here into "how the magic works" - which ironically combines both communication - Mercury - and personal values - Venus - for me in ways that "fit" the simultaneous Mercury Rx and Venus Rx energy that will be in place during the week that bridges the opening of August. Some of you will see what I mean.)
From this almost casual process of mulling over and assessment will come new ideas and visions of the new directions, changes, and additions you want to make when things start moving forward again. Because Venus is, by nature, more feminine, more passive, than either Mercury or Mars, the effects of its Rx work may be gentler and subtler than some of the "in your face" aggravations of Mars, especially.
Self-awareness can be an important key to "watching this work" - if you are interested. These things will happen regardless¸ but self-awareness makes it better, makes the work more conscious and thus more relevant, and speeds your progress literally on a soul level. But, as always, it's one of those choices you either make or you don't. The more introspective among you can make good use of this information.
In the themes of "summing up," "coming to new realizations," and "reaching at least a temporary sense of closure" . . . matters that are always part of Venus Rx energy, some common questions will present themselves for consideration. These questions may be quite "clean" in their expression: What have you achieved? What have you built? What have you contributed? How can you "use" these assets? What value do they represent? What have you gained? How can you "spend" these resources in the future? etc.
The answers that come back may be a little less sunny and wholesome. Venus Rx energy often carries significant connotations of loneliness and "admitting personal failings," and of recognizing mistakes, wrong choices, broken hopes and disappointments in your personal relationships, and a sense of "wasted resources" and "failed investments" regarding money and income.
Also, there is often a "reckoning" that occurs with this energy, of more fully understanding how you "gave too much or too little," "how you used or were used," "How you experienced an uneven, unjust distribution in the areas of "your fair share." And, interestingly, there can be a very strange mixture of ambivalence and "blendedness" in the conclusions you reach during this process, an understanding of how the scales may have tipped "too far" somehow in both directions.
For the signs of Aries, Taurus, Libra and Scorpio, Venus Rx energy always focuses very directly on relationships, personal partnerships, marriage, money, income, possessions, values, earning capacity and spending habits. There is very little camouflage, if you will. For the next six weeks, these signs will be re-assessing these areas of life directly. The information in the three paragraphs above, therefore, will be most applicable to what you are facing and "reconsidering" in your life.
Now, as usual, let's focus very specifically on what Venus Rx means to each sign. And, again, for the most complete picture of what is happening in your life, read the information pertaining to your Sun Sign, your Moon Sign, Your ascendant sign, and any sign which contains a significant clustering of planets you may have other than those already mentioned. Those of you who know where the area between 19 Leo and 5 Virgo is located in your chart . . . will know very specifically where this energy is finding expression in your life. The concerns of that house (or those houses) will be really up for review.

If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Aries: You will be reassessing your creativity and the application these efforts have into the kind of work and service you want to offer. You will also be looking for "more fun" in your work, and may actually use the energy in reverse by "working to have fun" - meaning you may actively find ways to bring more pleasure, more "playtime," more romance, more adventure into your life.
You may decide to bring some personal artistic or creative project into your work somehow, or find a way to offer it "as a service" to others. You may also redo your relationships with your actual children in order to accommodate both their needs AND your work responsibilities better in your life. You may also find, as the weeks pass, more ways to make direct connections between this area of work and pleasure, ways to combine them better, ways to use these conclusions to enhance your personal relationships and income management in one giant combination of "all possible Venus Rx themes." At least you'll certainly be looking.
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Taurus: You will be reassessing the need for joy and pleasure in your life, and the application this has to your emotional foundations and stability. You will also be dealing with the issues of romance, play, creativity, relationships with your children (and other forms of "risk-taking" . . .ha!) . . . in your private life and in your conduct as a member of your family circle. You will be reviewing the relationships you enjoy with family members - perhaps as examples of how to deal with your own romantic interests, creative projects, children and brain children. You will be finding renewed pleasure, perhaps, in the resources found in your private life in terms of "company" and the other values these people provide for you.
You may also be re-focusing on the way you acquire money to support your home and domestic circumstances, and the ways in which you spend it to provide emotional support for yourself and the people who populate your private life. You may find a need for more pleasing, more comfortable, more convenient surroundings - and after Venus goes direct again in the middle of September, you may do what it takes to place yourself in relationships, income producing opportunities, and a physical environment which is more expressive of "who you really are."
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Gemini: You will be reviewing the relationships that comprise your family circle and private life . . . and re-evaluating the aesthetics and comfort of your home environment. In the first instance, you may, as a result, take some time to re-open or reconstruct the lines of communication. You may find that you really enjoy talking to some of these people . . . whose company you've perhaps not appreciated fully for a while. The time and effort spent to give a kind word, or offer a carefully chosen compliment can pay handsome dividends in terms of cordial welcome and an easier sense of friendship and acceptance among those who support your emotional self and your private world.
In the second instance, you may be considering a couple of things. (As a Gemini, you love doing things in "pairs.") For one, you could be searching for a better way to bring more social or personal satisfaction into the tactics you use to earn money and the ways you use income to make things more pleasant in your private world. In this case, you will be looking to feel more familiar, more "at home" in the strategies you use to support yourself financially.
In the second instance, you may be looking at your home situation and family life and looking for "better aesthetics," and a greater sense of comfort, convenience, ease, beauty and even culture - as a way of simply making things more pleasant in the private sector of your world. Here again, a little talk, thought, communication . . . even conferencing and brainstorming with those involved in helping create this environment, could go a long, long way.
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Cancer: Some talk or thoughts regarding the needs of your relationships . . . or the information gained from a partner, sends you back into reviewing your financial situation, the ways you earn and spend money, the kinds of possessions you'd like to have, the experiences (often in the company of others) that you use to enjoy the money you have . . . because right now money for you is both a social tool and a piece of investment capital. And you are reassessing the ways you can get the most mileage from the raw materials you have available.
Then, because Venus itself deals with things like "cooperation" . . . in which all action is a two-way street, an impetus to prompt reciprocal action . . . you will use money, possessions, gifts, and income . . . all indicative of your abstract values . . . to enhance communication in your relationships. In this way, money becomes a way of showing appreciation for those who nourish your mind and intellect, the conversation partners you enjoy, the pleasure you get from experiencing and expressing your own thoughts with grace and elegance.
Another way this might manifest, is money spent on some very enjoyable learning experience such as books of personal interest, some pleasant course of instruction, or a deliberately social occasion with people you love to talk to. It could also show money used to enhance your personal mobility to please you more . . . such as investment in a pleasure trip, or even the decision to buy a new, more attractive, comfortable and convenient vehicle.
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Leo: Money and partnership issues are re-emphasized for you during this time. You may be reevaluating or rearranging the ways you utilize money and relationships in your life, or perhaps you are re-negotiating the agreements you have with partners about the ways money is managed, earned, spent, or prioritized. You may reassess the use of money and possessions as instruments that support your pleasures and your personal relationships. You may now regard these matters with a more critical eye, looking for ideas about how to get more "mileage" out of the available raw materials.
Money and relationships may be more prominent in your personal presentation now, perhaps because they are subjects very much on your mind. You are not only trying clarify your own thinking here, you also want to be sure "the world" knows your ideas and viewpoints and "where you stand" personally on these topics. You may also use this time to more emphatically impress your ideas on the people in your relationships.
A spirit of compromise may be nominally present . . . or at least given lip service. But, objectively, you are looking to put across your values and your requirements (especially regarding money, love, support and companionship) . . . so as to clear up or prevent misunderstandings. You may also be giving more attention to your personal appearance in order to attract or impress partners . . . or to "show off" your access to the finer things money can buy - using money to display your "values" and enhance your personal appeal.
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Virgo: During this time, you may be looking to refine or rearrange the ways you use money in your personal presentation, the image of prosperity you project, the possessions you display to "advertise yourself," the kind of partner you are looking for - or the kind of partner you want to "show" yourself to be, and the value you give to "relationships and money" in general. You may be rethinking some aspects of your personal appearance, although under the influence of Venus Rx is not the time to make any major changes, because once it goes direct the change will no longer appeal to you or "feel right" . . . so hold off on shaving your head or getting that tattoo until at late September.
You may also be rethinking the role of money in your life . . . in all its aspects. The ways you earn it, spend it, use it, feel about it, advertise that you "have" (or worse, don't have) it. All this may be very prominent both in your thinking and in the ways you "take on the world" now and in the immediate future. There may also be some issues regarding enjoyment of money . . . or the ways partners and money together operate in your life and your value system . . . that you'll be rethinking and adjusting within yourself.
And toward the end of this period, you may be giving some extra thought to the ways you've "sacrificed yourself and your interests" . . . because of how money and relationships have worked for you lately. Altruism is one thing. Being a doormat is a little different, and for sure a little less noble. And you may be re-examining just how that line has been crossed and blurred too much in your world and your activities lately.
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Libra: Your involvement with money and relationships as part of your basic personal support system will likely transform away from a decidedly "sacrificial" tone in the early part of this time period back into a time of questioning - perhaps in the company of friends or professional colleagues - just what it is you are trying to accomplish with your partnership involvements and with the way you use and manage money. This is a time when you are asking yourself how these things can better support your desired "public image" or maybe enhance your career development or add to your community standing and reputation. Getting some individually relevant answers to these possibilities is very important to you during this period.
Out of this may come a new altruistic vision, or a very future-oriented concept about how to apply these things to everyone's best advantage. For you, this energy at this time may be very idealistic . . . although you won't be ignoring the "social opportunities" that are also part of the picture. After all, things like relationships, love, money, and possessions are supposed to be enjoyed . . . and trying new things or investing some extra time among friends may be unexpectedly inspirational.
A less attractive side of this energy (although perhaps quite necessary) is the tendency to look at your relationships and money management with a very critical eye, and make some changes based on what you discover and decide about their practical application to your future. You may not like the appearance of "judging" these areas of your life . . . because it doesn't have that "niceness" your sign so highly prizes. But such things happen, and they may happen now, whether you want to call it by its actual name . . . or not.
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Scorpio: The early part of this period may find you re-evaluating your personal relationships as they pertain to your future, the quality of the individuals found in your social network and among those you consider to be your "friends," the ways you deal with money in these "pleasure producing" parts of your life, and what all this says about your personal values. Your thoughts and conclusions may have a decidedly "judgmental" quality to them, as you analyze pretty carefully the information you find here and the conclusions you reach. The experience may lead you to change both "your usual operating tactics" and some of the "friends" you're inclined to "spend yourself on" in the future.
The later part of this time - and on into September - will find you reassessing your involvement with relationships, partners, money, income issues and material possessions as "things of value" to you in your public life, professional direction, career goals, community standing and individual reputation. You will find a greater need for all these things to be more supportive of "the real you" . . . and better able to indicate who "the real you is" . . . to people who matter, including "society in general." This is a time of discovering what you enjoy about being a "prominent person" or a "competent professional" . . . and reconsidering the assets you have to build a better future for yourself on the foundation you already have.
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Sagittarius: During this time you are giving some additional attention and reconsideration to the value of your professional development, public reputation and career achievements. You may be especially focused on the role your personal partnerships play in this area, assessing the ways you participate in them, the assets and value "other people" bring to this arena, and the ways your relationships either help or hinder your overall agenda.
You may be very directly reevaluating the people you find in your professional endeavors - customers, superiors, "the public," etc, and "people with authority over you." You may be unusually critical of what you find here in this time of reassessment - and begin to see how you may need to "put an end to" some things you have put up with in the past - or at least bring conditions more into line with your personal values.
You may feel people have taken advantage of their personal association with you, calling on the relationship perhaps to bear offensive behaviors, demands, and maybe even a sense of "people meddling in things that were nobody else's business." For all these reasons, you may be ready for some "new rules" or maybe even "new faces."
There is a very strong push here toward new horizons, greener pastures, new situations and new experiences. Part of it is rooted in a desire for more personal influence and greater application of "what you have learned through experience." You are also looking for more cash money in your hand - because you are coming to terms with a feeling of having been "robbed or cheated" by people who may have used your "personal relationship" to feather their own nests - at your expense.
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Capricorn: Some form of personal expansion - possibly done in conjunction with a partner or to support the needs of a partnership - is reaching a time of pause and reassessment. This expansion could come in many forms, but overall it will affect somehow the structures and "rules" you live by. There is a need for more comfort, more flexibility, more enjoyment in the vision you have of the world around you. You have gone through a time of new learning, acquiring new knowledge or perhaps a new skill . . . or have learned some "greater use" for something of this nature. Now you may be considering ways to turn this to material advantage or gain greater "value" for your efforts.
This same sense of progress may require you to go back and restructure some things in the area of joint resources, shared income, community property. At the very least you will be looking for some sense of "cooperation" or "agreement" with partners regarding possible expenses or use of possessions in this new endeavor you're considering. You may also have to give your "creative vision" some new and improved form - redoing something to accommodate better both the results you want to create and the resources you have.
Thus the restructuring will create a better result than you may have planned in the beginning. It will just take a bit more time to accomplish than you thought. You may also have to invest in some kind of "research" during this time to accomplish what takes form now as your "desired result."
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Aquarius: You may find your close personal relationships undergoing a kind of transformation during this period and sense the permanent reorientation of how these "work" now in your life. Although this change will be for the better, a sense of "loss" may also be part of the mix. In fact, you will probably go back into the basic structure of the way an especially important partnership (like your marriage, perhaps) operates . . . in order to reorient things to this new "requirement" before moving on. Another thing you could do is "rethink" the relationship entirely and decide to bring some things about it to an end -- or at least make some very fundamental changes in the values it involves and the way it operates to support your needs. That also would meet the metaphorical requirements of this placement.
OR you could go back and replace the partner in a relationship . . . or the values you attach to the partner in an existing relationship before moving on with a "new set of guidelines" in place for the way things work in the future. There may be some form of negotiation and compromise that happens during this time that allows you to move forward with a "better relationship" than you had before – even if the relationship itself doesn't survive the examination process. If nothing else, you may have a relationship that better expresses your values . . . and this alone may usher in a new way of using "community property and possessions" or investments or joint money to make life more comfortable for all involved.
If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Pisces: During this time, you will be especially focused on the way your personal relationships operate in your life. You may be quite aware of the need for balance, compromise, negotiation, and agreement on mutual values . . . particularly in your marriage or with someone who constitutes a "partner" . . . business, personal, social, financial, etc. You are interested in the harmony and sense of teamwork that fits with your own values from this arrangement in your life. Therefore a desire - and ability - to view the situation from your partner's perspective may be one of the assets you either use or try to gain, in order to build or arrange matters here more agreeably.
Part of the realignment may also include some adjustment in the "work" you do . . . which has several possible meanings. Obviously one would involve the job you do for money . . . which you may reorganize to better support the requirements of a significant relationship. On a more mundane level, you may go back into the chores, favors, errands, tasks, "jobs" you do on an everyday basis, looking for better accommodation for this "partnership" in your life. You may come up with ways to "work smarter" that let you do a better job with your available energy - to foster a sense of contribution and teamwork. You may also decide to "drop off" some of the jobs you have performed in the past . . . because reconsidering the sacrifices you make, for the sake of your relationships, is also part of the mix at this time.
