THE NEW MOON:
A MOMENT OF PERSONAL UNITY IN AN EVER-CHANGING WORLDIn the metaphorical language of astrology, your Sun sign and position represents your ego, your sense of who you are, your desire to have impact and recognition out in the world, and your Moon sign and position represents your inner self, your passions and feeling sensibilities, your instincts and your emotions. The New Moon every month is the point when the transiting Moon, traveling its course in orbit around the earth and through all the signs of the Zodiac as it goes, reaches the exact same point – the same degree and minutes of arc in the same sign as the Sun.
This "uniting" of the two most important celestial bodies in astrology represents symbolically then a time when your inner self and your outer self, your personal energy and your passionate commitment, your "sense of purpose" and your "heart's intentions" are likewise unified, as they are at no other time in the month. You are integrated and committed then regarding the matters that are in the spotlight, that are the center of attention for the next month – until the subsequent New Moon symbolically closes out these matters and re-aligns energy in a different area.
As with everything everywhere . . . but especially in physical reality . . . everything moves in cycles. And the New Moon represents therefore a time of integration, commitment, cohesion and a readiness to move forward on life's evolutionary path. This pattern applies then to the larger cycle of each individual horoscope . . . as the step-by-step process of the year unfolds. And from its position as it forms, month after month after month, The New Moon can forecast the major theme and focus that is "up for review" depending on where the individual himself "fits" in the greater unfolding cycles.
